Meeting him, and training all of the volunteers as a Senior Mentor for the Climate Project, has changed my view of our relationship with the planet, and my life. A Movie Productions "A colleague recently referred me to Roberta Fernandez of Planet Partnership in reference to video production marketing and web based curriculum projects. We met, I was fascinated by her passion and the power of her words. As producer of the projects, I sat through her lectures more than once, experiencing a shift in values I thought were already above the norm concerning the environment and my responsibility. I recycled, reused and reduced whenever it occurred to me. I carried excess paper waste home from the office, rinsed out and reused plastic bags and carefully planned my daily driving to conserve gas. It wasn’t enough. I had justified my last fifteen years of gas guzzling SUV purchases with the need for space due to the nature of my business, the needs of my pets and a general desire for cushiness. Suddenly, I realized, I was spoiled. I began changing my thought patterns along with my incandescent bulbs, paper towel usage and self image. That big shiny SUV felt more like a symbol of overindulgence and greed than a comfortable extention of my self. I marched down to the local dealership with dog in tow for a hybrid compatibility test ride. Sure, I would have to approach some things differently,
like how to transport my kayak, maneuvering location equipment and the ease of transporting a large dog. It would not be convenient but possible. Roberta helped me to see a much bigger, critical picture. She radically changed my life; I have become a disciple passing the message to everyone I meet.
